The Orangetail / Habanero Project

What can Orangetail add to the Habanero phenotype?

Bringing two different phenotype-selection backgrounds together — evaluating what Orangetail influence adds to Habanero-based genetics.

VPI AlbinoHypoLeopardOrangetail (polygenic)
The idea

This project explores what happens when two different phenotype-selection backgrounds are brought together.

Professor Bitch represents Orangetail — a polygenic, selectively bred Hypo direction emphasizing strong red/orange influence.

Killua comes from the Habanero breeding group established by ImperatorMorphs. The Habanero direction — VPI + Hypo + Leopard — is credited to their program; Quantum Boas did not create it.

The question behind this project is simple: what can Orangetail add to the Habanero phenotype? The first litter is not the finished project — it is the foundation of a selection line.

Foundation animals

The animals behind the project

Why these animals?

Professor Bitch brings the Orangetail direction: polygenic red/orange influence layered on Hypo, with Leopard in the mix.

Killua brings the Habanero background from ImperatorMorphs' program: VPI Sunglow, 100% het Leopard.

Genetic architecture

Orangetail is a polygenic / selectively bred Hypo direction emphasizing strong red/orange influence.

Habanero = VPI + Hypo + Leopard — a direction established by ImperatorMorphs, credited to their program.

This project evaluates what happens between the two rather than predicting a single outcome.

What we're trying to learn

What can Orangetail add to the Habanero phenotype?

Expected / possible outcomes

Offspring will be evaluated for orange/red influence, Hypo expression, Leopard expression, contrast, cleanliness, saturation and overall phenotype.

Potential holdbacks will be selected on both genetics and phenotype. Possible outcomes are never guarantees.

Possibilities, not guarantees — outcomes are documented as they actually happen in the timeline below.

Next generation

Where this project goes next

Take selected Orangetail-influenced descendants and continue building them into Habanero-based genetics — a selection line, not a single litter.
